It is also a play-on-words for "collaboration".
The Founders also being performing artists draw inspiration from hip hop and street culture and how very often what is presented for display is a collaborative output of many ideas. So in some way, Kollab is an extension of the Founders' psyche, some way it is an amalgamation of all the experiences of human history, art and culture.
Thus, Kollab also uses the slogan "The Artist Brand" as not only a brand by artists but of artists and for artists.

In 2010, Jayanta moved to Delhi for his Journalism and Mass Commnication degree while Bhargav went to design school in Latvia. All the while, they kept conversing on the next creative move they could do. Being present since the inception of streetdance and it's surrounding culture in India, they sensed how big the movement would one day become and floated various ideas.
In 2015, after being disappointed at an attempt to form "The Kolkata Lab" which was a proposed association of performing artists in Kolkata, Jayanta decided to start a fashion label with the solution to the problem - "If artists find it so difficult to collaborate, let us bring them under one banner. Maybe fashion, which knows no boundaries will unite them all and who knows maybe someday we could create greater artistic ventures together".
Early 2016 Bhargav moved to Kolkata. On 13th May, 2016, Kollab was incorporated as Kollab Lifestyle Private Limited and sold it's first design in the first day of December, 10 days before officially launching.
